Igniting curiosity and enthusiasm for learning

At Birley Primary Academy we offer 15 and 30 hours of funded nursery places for children from the age of 3 years old.

We aim to ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning while helping them to build relationships with other children, preparing them for a move into Reception.  Our nursery offers a safe, friendly environment where children can enjoy learning through educational activities and play.

Key features:

  • Experienced teaching team provides structured, educational based learning and play.
  • A well planned curriculum which allows us to create exciting enhancements for our areas of learning.
  • A variety of enrichments offered throughout the year, linked to whole school events.
  • Outdoor area to enhance learning and explore the natural environment
  • Children are provided with a fruit snack and milk.
  • Provides a seamless transition into Birley Primary Academy as our nursery is in the same building as our Reception classes so children are familiar with our reception team.

We currently have availability for funded nursery places of 15 and 30 hours for children aged 3 and 4 years.

Easy transition from nursery to reception

Children attending our nursery benefit from joint activities with foundation year children which helps them when they are ready to move up to the next stage.

Our Nursery Curriculum

Our curriculum is planned by a qualified teacher and adapted for the individual needs of our children.  It is guided by the prime and specific areas of development.  Each of these areas are reflected in our learning areas both inside and outside. Children have the opportunity to explore different learning areas independently or as part of a guided group with an adult.

Prime Specific
Communication and language Literacy
Physical development Mathematics
Personal, social and emotional development Expressive arts and design
Understanding the world

Helping your child to achieve their goals

We approach the seven Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) learning objectives with the understanding that your child may have areas where they need to be challenged or, alternatively, require additional support. To help each of our children achieve their goals, we observe and assess the children. This enables our staff to highlight key experiences and success, and identify clear targets for each individual.

Keeping in touch with parents

We use an online application called Tapestry to communicate with parents and carers so we can share our observations, learning and fun your child experiences while at nursery.
