Parent View at Birley Primary Academy

At Birley Primary Academy, we really do like to hear from you; your views are very important to us and we will always take them into consideration when developing any new initiatives at the academy. At all of our parents’ consultation evenings, we ask all of our parents and carers to complete a questionnaire about the academy so that parent view is taken into account on a regular basis. Please read the table below that shows the result of the most recent Parent View – taken in November 2023 – and is representative of the 137 responses received.

A SAMPLE OF THE WRITTEN COMMENTS TAKEN WITHIN PARENT SURVEY

On our Parents’ Questionnaire, there is also the opportunity for parents to put written comments at the end of their responses. Here is a sample of the comments received at our latest parents’ evening:

“Excellent school with excellent teachers. Very happy parents!”

“My child’s class teacher has an excellent understanding of my child’s needs.”

“My child is exceeding and, as a parent, I am very happy.”

“My child has come on leaps and bounds since starting with you in FS2. Thank you!”

“Excellent supportive school with excellent teachers!”

WHEN IS A GOOD TIME TO SPEAK TO A TEACHER?

Our teaching staff are available before the academy starts each day; however, please try to avoid discussions on the yard at 8:45am as it can be difficult when all of the children are waiting to enter the academy.

Alternatively, we are all, generally, available at the end of the day. If getting into the academy is difficult, feel free to phone, email or even write to us. We will get back to you at the next available opportunity.

COMMENTS OR CONCERNS ABOUT AN ASPECT OF THE ACADEMY?

If you have any comments or concerns that you would like to share about any aspect of the academy, please feel free to come and talk to us about it. We are interested in your thoughts – particularly if you have a concern.

To seek out your comments, we have regular questionnaires and Parents’ Consultation Evenings, but you can also, simply, come into the academy to share your comments or concerns at any time – there is no need to wait. If you are unable to get into the academy, feel free to phone, write or email your concerns to us.

CONCERNED ABOUT A CHILD AT THE ACADEMY?

If you are concerned about a child at our academy, please contact us immediately. You can talk to any member of staff about your concern and they will direct you to the correct personnel.

If your concern is related to safeguarding, we have a team of professionals ready to support who are all trained as Designated Safeguarding Leads, comprising of Mr Ward, Mrs Garratty, Mrs Garrity and Mrs Widdowson. Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Anti-Bullying Policy are available upon our policies and documents page.

If you have any concerns relating to Special Educational Needs, our SENDCo, Mrs Widdowson, will be more than happy to help and any concerns or issues with getting your child to the academy should be forwarded to our Inclusion and Attendance Officers, Mrs Garratty and Mrs Garrity.
